ORIGIN
In ancient times, in order to make people
easily remember the years, Chinese ancestors came up with an idea—using the
animals to represent the years.
The Chinese animal signs are a 12-year
cycle used for dating the years. They represent a cyclical concept of time.
There is a popular folk method, which
reflected the cyclical method of recording years of the Twelve Animal Signs. Every
year is assigned an animal name or “sign” according to a repeating cycle: Rat,
Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Boar.
Have you watched the series, Journey to the
west? There are many characters dressed up as twelve Chinese zodiac signs. The tiger in tiger-stripes fur coat, the Monkey King in leopard print skirt, the rat in hooded grey fur vest. It is a symbolic of Chinese traditional culture.
Welcome to the Chinese traditional
culture!!!
